Highlights: • In the morning we learned about rocks and minerals.  The three kinds of rocks are igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary - Shaliza, Griffin, Emily, Brady • Today in Sports Day we were doing some wild, crazy sports! - Keegan • In Sports Day we had face painting, tatoos, water balloons, shoot out hockey.  We got to splash the Pratt teenagers - Bassam, Manreet, Robert, Emily • After Sports Day, we had watermelon -Sophie Reminders: • Remember to bring in your Mary Poppins blue forms.  It is next week (June 7th) - Jack and Brady • The Volunteer Tea is on Friday, June 1st! - Sophie • Bike to school day is next week on Tuesday, June 5th - Griffin

Sports Day is Tomorrow, May 30, 2018

Tomorrow is Sports Day at Royal Oak School. This year our theme is CANADA! Please wear your CANADA gear or Red and White or Royal Oak Blue. Students are asked to come prepared for the weather. Bring your hat, sunscreen, water bottle, proper footwear (no flip flops) and a light jacket. We're looking forward to a great afternoon filled with super fun activities and events!

Highlights: • Last night we saw a video which showed the grade 3 students doing work and making iMovies.  I think that all of the teachers came together and made that iMovie. - Shaliza • At the celebration of learning, we did a few stations to sell our stuff at the market.  The money is being given to a charity called Red Cross. -Griffin • Today in Circle of Courage, we talked about what makes happiness around the world. - Bassam • Last night, the Burfi station sold very fast - Emily • The perogies were super duper duper good! Bussing for Next Year

Bussing registration needs to be completed for next year by June 11, 2018.  You may register through the 'My CBE Account' online. This needs to be done by June 11 in order to be on the bus for the start of next year.  If missed, there will be a significant delay in getting bus service (likely until after Thanksgiving).

Stampede Breakfast is tomorrow!

Reminder that tomorrow (May 25th, 2018) is the Royal Oak School Stampede Breakfast. Rain or shine, bring your family for some free pancakes and sausage! Pancakes will be served from 7:30am-8:30am and the event will run till 9:00am. Oh and don't forget to wear your Western attire.  See ya'll there! 

May 23, 2018 and Celebration of Learning

Highlights: • Today in gym, some of us did testing and some of us did Gaga ball - Brady • Today we did games from Ukraine, Tunisia, India, and Peru - Shaelyn • Today we did music with xylophones and chimes  - Jose and Jack Reminder: • Tomorrow is the celebration of learning!  It is from 6pm to 7pm, but please show up 5:45pm to buy tickets and get ready for our starting performance in the gym.  After that, we have a market, an art gallery, and lots of our work to show you! - Bassam and Keegan • Some of us are helping sell different things at the market.  See the schedule below. - Griffin

Jump Rope for Heart

Congratulations Royal Oak students and families, you are amazing! Our totals are in and you have raised $16,514 for the Heart and Stroke Foundation! Way to go! Prizes will arrive at our school by the end of the week. Thank you to everyone that contributed to this special cause.

Volunteering

Hi, ROS parents -  Over the next few weeks, we have a number of fun events planned for our students and families. To facilitate these events, we require a large number of parent volunteers to help. If you are available for any/all of the following opportunities, please email our ROS Volunteer Coordinators (Keri and Niki) at  rosvolunteers@gmail.com .  1.  Lunch Supervision  - Tuesday, May 22nd - 11:45a to 1p - We need 4 more volunteers to help with supervising the students while the staff is taking a group photo.  2.  Pancake Breakfast  - Friday, May 25th - 7a to 9:15a - We need 6 more volunteers to help serve pancakes, sausages and pour syrup!  3.  Sports Day  - Wednesday, May 30th - 12p until the end of the school day - This is a fun afternoon at ROS! All students will participate in various events in and around the school. We require 25+ volunteers to help manage a station. Volunteers will also be cutting watermelon before the event begins.  4.  Bike to School D

Royal Oak School Pancake Breakfast!

Royal Oak School Pancake Breakfast!     We are excited that the Calgary Stampede Downtown Attractions Breakfast Committee will be hosting a FREE Stampede Pancake Breakfast for our entire school community on Friday May 25 th . This event will begin at 7:30am and pancakes will be served until approximately 8:30 am. Families are encouraged to come early to enjoy this  free  event and stay to socialize till approximately 9:00 am.   Families are invited to bring a blanket or camping chair to sit on as they enjoy a breakfast picnic on the compound and/or hill area. In the event of rain families will be invited inside the gym.   All families are encouraged to wear their best western attire to show their Stampede spirit!

Highlights: • Today we had Peruvian dancers come to perform for us! We got to dance with them! - Brady and Victoria •We had a fire drill today.
